Synopsis:

THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT. GSA is considering the award of a sole source contract to The Estate of Sol LeWitt in accordance with FAR Subpart 6.302-1, which is entitled Only one responsible source and other supplies or services will satisfy the agency requirement. The Estate of Sol LeWitt will be contracted to execute the painting of a wall mural in the security pavilion at Jacob K. Javits Federal Building, 26 Federal Plaza in New York, New York.

Material: Acrylic paint directly on the prepared wall

Size: 19 high by 71 6 long



The anticipated contract will include all required services for painting the wall according to the Estate of Sol LeWitt s design based on the artist s original instructions. A varnish will be applied over the painted surface to protect the artwork. The specialized painting of the artwork Wall Drawing 746 requires its being contracted through the Estate of Sol LeWitt because they are the only existing source able to produce the work according to the artist s specifications, and no other type of services will satisfy US General Services Administration s requirements for the creation of this work. The Estate s authorized painting crew is the only team approved by the Estate to create the work because they have a unique ability to create the work that is not possessed by any other source.
