Passenger lifts:
There are passenger lifts being provided in building cores 2, 3 and 4, each of these lifts will be rated at 1 750 kg (25 persons) running at a rated speed of 1.6 m/sec, the car and landing doors will have a clear opening width of 2 300 mm using fully automatic 6 panel centre opening doors and the internal car size will be 2 600 mm wide x 1 450 mm deep x 2 600 mm high, all within a lift shaft 3 420 mm x 2 665.
The lift drives and controls will utilise gearless permanent magnet machines in a conventional bottom drive lift motor room situated all are situated at level B4, all lifts will be provide with an ECO control sub-system to conserve energy.
Because of the need to move heavy objects the lifts will be rated at 2 500 kg when serving levels B1, 00, O1 & 02 and 1 750 kg when serving levels above 02 this will be achieved by imbedded software in the control systems.
The passenger lift designs incorporate 2 lifts that will be classified as full fire fighting lifts and each will be provided with all the necessary life support features recommended for this design of lift.
Electrical services to vertical transportation:
Each passenger lift requires dual power supplies, one from the main switchboards and one from the life safety switchboard. Automatic transfer.
Switches will allow the lifts to derive power from the life safety switchboard in the event of a power failure. The lifts in Cores 2 and 4 are fire fighting lifts and the lift in Core 3 is required for disabled evacuation.
The truck lift is a hydraulic lift requiring four motors/pumps. In addition, a power supply is required to allow refrigerated delivery lorries to power their cooling system without keeping their engines on codes and standards: the passenger lifts will be designed to the requirements of the latest safety codes, standards and norms, which include but are not limited to the following: The Lifts Regulations 1997, BS EN81, BS 7255, BS9999 and the latest recommendations for Universal Access.
