This assignment is for the biological and water chemical monitoring of the effect of lime in salmon rivers which are affected by acid precipitation which has been transported a long way. The awarding authority has chosen to divide the monitoring of the condition up into three sub assignments. These follow geographical borders and comprise monitoring fish, bottom fauna, water vegetation (macro vegetation and fouling) and water chemistry. the three sub assignments are:
1. The Agder counties (7 rivers);
2. Sogn og Fjordane and Hordaland (a total of 5 rivers);
3. Rogaland (10 rivers).
The sub assignments include:
— Examinations and analyses in accordance with standardised and/or international publicised and approved methodology,
— Evaluation, total evaluation and reporting the collected data.
Several of the examinations are only to be carried out every other year in each river. The monitoring of the water chemistry consists of the production and evaluation of water chemistry data from the awarding authority's water chemistry control.
Sub assignment 3 includes in addition responsibility for the collocation of the reports and working out the text for the reports which are not included in the other sub assignments, including a national summary and methodology.
