In connection with the Carbon Capture project at Mongstad, Norway, an onshore geotechnical survey shall be performed.
Generally sediments at Mongstad are scarce and mainly consist of peat and boggy material. Smaller areas of sand, silt and clay have been identified in previous investigations.
The soil investigation shall provide information on thickness of the sediment cover, type of sediment and rock information for planning and performance of site preparation for the CCM facililties.
Approximately 200 boreholes will be drilled with an accumulated borehole length of 1 100 m in sediments and 400 m drilled in rock.
