The Contractor shall handle engineering studies, detail design, manufacture, testing, transporting, installation, testing of complete installation and commissioning of high voltage equipment and auxiliary systems for a new 220 kV substation, Búðarháls, located in south Iceland, approx. 150 km from Reykjavik. The substation will have air insulated equipment with a direct transmission line connection and two switchgear bays connected to single busbars. The equipment will be installed indoors. Landsnet will provide a part of the equipment to be installed, including the 245 kV circuit breakers and protection relays.
The substation will connect Búðarháls hydroelectric powerplant now under construction to the Icelandic transmission grid and shall be ready for operation in the fall 2013.
