The USDA National Agricultural Library intends to make an award, on a sole-source basis, to IFIS Publishing for access for all USDA researchers to Food Science and Technology (FSTA) new and corrected database records in ISO 2709 format, to be made available by a weekly data feed from the vendor's server, during the period of January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2012. IFIS, the owner of the FSTA database, is the only vendor that can meet NAL's requirement for timely, ongoing delivery of FSTA database records in a format that will allow NAL to make the database records accessible on its own platform. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS. This notice is for informational purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. Potential sources who believe they can provide the services listed above are invited to submit substantiating documentation in writing to the identified point of contact. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. A determination by the Government to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely at the discretion of the Government. The estimated award date is January 26, 2012.
